Galleria DA, "Group News"
The Galleria DA is a group dedicated to the presentation of an artist's best works, our best foot forward, so to speak. While many of us within the Deviant Art Community see ourselves in competition with every other artist, and all vying for the attention of our fellow on-lookers, do submit every single creation that we are capable of, this does present a problem. Within our own galleries we find that over time we can accumulate images that, for lack of a better term, are simply not the very best representation of our genius, talent, skill or vision. Certainly we are not all such masters at our craft, that every single flick of a brush, nor pixel placement is 'Masterfully done'. Looking within my own gallery, I have found that over time, my vision has changed, and my craft has improved. While I can list these images first, at the lead, I still have so many others that are now beginning to crowd the view of what I want my audience to focus upon.
With this observation in mind, I decided that I needed a place to showcase only my most recent work, or my very best works. This inspired me to establish this new group, for I felt that, certainly, if I felt this way and had these thoughts, others may very well have thought the same. It is not enough to simply found a group and throw wide the doors for all to storm in and post images. This would merely create begin the same problem. A forest of images, with no attention for the works being considered by the Artist. So the idea is about what you want others to see, specifically. Our by-laws, if you will, are that an artist may begin submissions by choosing their ten best, or favorite images, and build a little at a time. We can not dash over to the galleria and submit every single piece we create, and expect that anyone will ever truly 'see' it. Moderation is the key. Each month our members are encouraged to review their work, at their personal gallery, and what they have submitted for that month, choosing from among these works a few additional images to represent their collective 'Best'; 3 - 5 new submissions, tops.
If you like the idea, want a venue where the surrounding works presented are the 'best' another artist has to offer, not their latest scribbles, sketches and musings, then the Galleria DA may be for you. Give us some consideration. If you have any questions, please send me a note, or leave a comment with this issue, or any future issues of 'Front Page".
The Galleria DA, 'Spotlight On,..'
Each issue of the 'Front Page' will bring focus upon one or more of our members activities within the group. The category of art chosen for this highlight will be done so randomly, as will the choice of who will receive the 'Spotlight'. This issue focuses upon the works of [*afugatt] within the Digital Arts Gallery Folder. Deviant Art Community Member [*afugatt] is a Fractal Artist who works include the following beautiful imagery:

The Founder's Favorites
As the Founder for The Galleria DA, and a contributing Artist, myself, I will not draw attention to my own works, nor upon the works of individuals who are member of the Galleria, to not show any favoritism, or hurt anyone's feelings, here. I would like to point out that I do comb the Deviant Art Community, and look among my own 'Favorites' for individuals to invite to the group, and will submit a piece or two from perspective members. So there may be a few pieces to appear in our galleries, of a particular artist who is not a member. I do so because I enjoy their work, and for this feature. Of the Artists I chose to make a submission for, I will choose from among them, an image that I have submitted on there behalf to feature in my 'Founder's Favorites' section. This issue I would draw your attentions to the works of [=LaxmiJayaraj], who is another Fractal Artist. I am partial to the Fractal Arts for being a Fractal Artist myself, true, but this feature will feature other Arts in future issues. The work which caught my attention, and which I submitted to our galleries, under Digital arts, is
:

The following list of Art Contests and Competitions is not an exhaustive list, but merely represents contests I believe that some Artist might find interesting.

Obviously, this is about frogs, so if you love them, like them, have the desire to create images with frogs in them, here is your chance. The deadline is not but a week away, and there are other specifics which you will want to know so go to:

" "Amphibian populations have been rapidly disappearing worldwide and nearly one-third of the world's amphibian species are on the verge of extinction. Up to 200 species have completely disappeared since 1979. Frogs and other amphibians face an array of threats from climate change to habitat destruction; pesticide use; over-collection for frog legs and dissections; invasive species; and infectious diseases spread by human activity. Frogs eat mosquitoes, provide us with medical advances, serve as food for birds, fish and monkeys, and their tadpoles filter our drinking water. Plus they look and sound cool, and kids love them! ..." "

HUMANS IN SPACE
[link]
The international Humans in Space Youth Art Competition encourages youth to “Be Inspired, Creative and Heard.” We ask them to think about the future of human space flight and to creatively communicate their ideas, and we promise to make these ideas viewable worldwide. By including the next generation in the planning of the future, the competition aims to enhance their awareness, interest in and support for human space flight, and to allow their ideas to begin shaping the future now.
The current 2012 competition invites young people from 10 to18 years of age to submit visual, literary, musical and video artwork expressing their vision of how humans will use science and technology in the future to explore space and uncover its mysteries. Their submissions will be judged by an international panel including artists, scientists, teachers, engineers, astronauts and others. The winning artwork will be woven into displays and performances designed to relay the youth artists’ messages to other young people and adults around the world.

I thank you all for the time you have spent in reading this issue of 'The Front Page'. The publication and group [The Galleria DA] are new, so this is my trial run of the publication. I would enjoy your feedback, and possibly suggestions for future issues, group activities, etc. If you are interested in reading the group guidelines, they may be found on the groups site; membership is open to all who find they can accept and live with the by-laws of the group. It is an idea that is new, not rushing over and posting everything in your gallery to another gallery, or every submission that you make. It is about our best, and that should cut down on just how 'thick' the surrounding forest might be. Give it some thought.
Thank you, and as always: Peace, Power, Freedom and Happiness to All!
